A well-defined comprehensive strategic plan that responds to the current situation, anticipates future challenges and opportunities is an invaluable tool to insuring the success of any organization. Unfortunately the concept has not always been fully understood or implemented properly and thus has garnered a negative connotation for some.

OCG has been conducting strategic plans since its inception in 1986, constantly refining the process along the way. We believe in the process, it is our passion and most importantly it has proven over and over to be an effective tool in helping our clients reach success. The process illustrated below…

The process provides data-driven answers to the following questions in sequence.

  1. Why does the organization exist?
  2. What business is the organization in?
  3. Who are its customers? Partners?
  4. What are the success measures?
  5. What is the role and scope of the organization?
  6. What are the priorities that must be achieved for success of the destination and the organization?
  7. What level of resources is necessary for success? How will the resources be secured?

  1. OCG has lead similar, yet varied in scope, planning efforts for over 50 organizations including 30 DMOs of all shapes and sizes.
  2. OCG has extensive experience leading planning projects in the private for- profit sector as well.
  3. As consultants with 20 years experience OCG brings content expertise to formulate the right questions, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
  4. As facilitators with 20 years experience OCG possesses the skills to promote cooperation, encourage constructive dialogue, expedite problem solving, and challenge people to answer the hard questions.
  5. OCG understands that successful strategic plans are data driven and in that regard has created data gathering mechanisms used extensively in many situations.
